A pantry
that comes to you.

A cupboard makes you reach past the front row. A larder pull-out brings every tier out into the room, both sides visible at once.

What is a tall larder pull-out?

A full-height frame of tiers on heavy runners inside a tall pantry cabinet. It comes out as one piece, so you see both faces of every tier at once and reach from either side. Compared with a cupboard of fixed shelves, nothing lives behind anything else.

Does it beat a butler’s pantry?

It is a different answer to the same question, and it is the right one when there is no room for a butler’s pantry. A butler’s pantry is a room, with bench space and often a second sink; a larder is a cabinet. If the floor plan cannot give up the square metres, the larder gets you most of the storage without the walls.

What does it ask of the cabinet?

More than most fittings. It is the heaviest thing in the kitchen when it is full, so it needs a square carcass, correctly fixed to the wall, with runners rated for the load. That rating is specified for your job and stated on the quote. It also needs the door to open fully, so it is a poor choice directly beside a return wall.

One full-height unit, or two shorter ones?

Two shorter units are easier to load, easier to fix and usually cheaper, and they let the heavy things sit low. One full-height unit holds more and looks considerably better. If the kitchen is for a household that cooks daily we specify two; if it is the feature wall of an open-plan room, we specify one. Tell us which the room is and we will draw it that way.

How does it arrive?

If you order delivered assembled it is fitted and adjusted before the carton is closed. Flat packed, it arrives with the cabinet it belongs to and you fit it as you build that cabinet.

Why this matters when you pick who builds it

Nothing above is exotic. It is the ordinary detail of specifying a kitchen properly, and the reason it is written down is that most quotes do not account for any of it. A cabinet maker who has not thought about the clearance on your corner, the runner rating under your pot drawer or the trap under your sink will still quote you a number — it will just be a number for a kitchen that works less well than it could have. We draw these decisions into the plan before anything is cut, on every kitchen, at every price. That is what you are actually choosing when you choose who to buy from.

What is a larder pull-out?

A full-height frame of tiers on runners inside a tall cabinet. It pulls out as one piece so both sides of every tier are reachable.

Is a larder pull-out better than a pantry cupboard?

For reach, yes. Nothing sits behind anything else. A cupboard of fixed shelves is cheaper and holds awkward large items more easily.

Does it replace a butler’s pantry?

It replaces the storage, not the bench space or the second sink. Where the floor plan has no room for a separate room, it is the practical answer.

What stops a larder pull-out working?

A door that cannot open fully, a carcass that is not square, or runners under-specified for a loaded unit. All three are decided before it is cut.

In their words

The people who already
cook in one.

“For what we paid compared to what similar kitchens were costing elsewhere, we’re extremely happy with it.”
Sarah Wallace

“Could not be happier with our kitchen. The funny thing is, pretty much everyone who’s come over since we installed it has asked who did our kitchen and assumed we spent a lot more than we actually did.”
Brian T.

“Once we saw it in person, it was a pretty easy decision. It looked even better than we expected.”
