Cut to your drawing · freighted to Kurri Kurri

Flat pack or assembled,
delivered to Kurri Kurri.

Kurri Kurri is one freight run from our door in Rockhampton. What arrives is a kitchen drawn for your room, in 18mm moisture-resistant board with Blum hardware throughout.

The short answer

We supply Kurri Kurri, we do not install there. The cabinetry is cut to your wall lengths and ceiling height rather than selected from catalogue widths, then freighted south along the Pacific Highway as flat cartons or as assembled cabinets, whichever your quote compares better on. Specification is the same either way and the same in every state: 18mm moisture-resistant board, laser-bonded edging, Blum hinges and full-extension runners.

Why does the specification matter in Kurri Kurri?

Older housing stock means walls that are not straight and ceilings that are not level, and a catalogue kitchen deals with both by filling the gap with a panel. Cutting to the measured room is the difference between a kitchen that fits and one that has been made to fit. Mining money, wine-country short stays and a strong owner-builder culture, so we quote flat pack and assembled about equally here.

How does it reach Kurri Kurri?

Your kitchen is cut in Rockhampton and freighted south along the Pacific Highway. Flat cartons are labelled to a numbered drawing, one per cabinet where possible, with doors and fronts wrapped separately and the Blum hardware bagged against the cabinet it belongs to. Assembled orders arrive as finished boxes, doors hung and adjusted, which takes more truck space and shows as a higher freight line. Both are on the same quote so the choice is a number rather than a guess.

Who fits it in Kurri Kurri?

Your builder, carpenter or kitchen installer, plus a licensed plumber and a licensed electrician for their parts. Ask each for a licence number and check it yourself — in New South Wales that is NSW Fair Trading. Every order ships with dimensioned service drawings showing each waste, water point and outlet, so the trades rough in to the plan rather than to a guess. Our install guide sets out the three trades and the fixed order they work in.

What goes wrong with cheap cabinetry first?

In a predictable order: the edging lifts near the sink and the dishwasher, then water gets into the exposed core and the panel swells, then the drawer runners start to drag, then the doors stop lining up because the hinges have no adjustment left. None of that is bad luck. It is what 16mm standard-core board with glued edging and unbranded hardware does, and it is the reason we do not sell it.

Would a kitchenette suit the room better?

If the room in Kurri Kurri is a studio, a granny flat, an under-house conversion or a short-stay unit, a kitchenette may be the right answer and it starts at $4,500. Sink, bench, cold storage, and a cooktop where the run allows. Same carcasses and the same Blum hardware as a full kitchen, in a fraction of the length - and it fits through a doorway that a full run would not.

Can I change the drawing after I approve it?

Before it is cut, yes, and changes at that stage cost nothing but time. Once the panels are cut they are cut to your sizes and cannot be re-used on another job, which is why the approval step exists and why we would rather you took an extra week over it. Read the elevations as carefully as the plan: most late changes are about where a door swings or which side of the sink the dishwasher sits, and both are obvious on the elevation.

Where else do you ship in the Hunter Valley?

We ship to Maitland, Cessnock, Singleton, Muswellbrook, Port Stephens, Nelson Bay, Raymond Terrace, Scone and the rest of the region on the same route. The the Hunter Valley page covers the region, and New South Wales covers the state.

The specification

Built for this
climate, not a catalogue.

Four real seasons means four cycles of movement a year. Over a decade that is what separates a kitchen that still closes properly from one that does not, and it is decided by the edging and the hinge, not by the door colour.

The same three questions decide any kitchen anywhere: board thickness and moisture rating, edging method, hardware brand. Ours are 18mm moisture-resistant, laser-bonded and Blum, and they are printed on every quote. How to judge a flat pack.

  • Laser-bonded edging, no glue line

Frequently asked

Kurri Kurri — questions

If your question is not here, call the studio. We would rather talk it through than have you guess.

Ask us directly →
Do you deliver flat pack kitchens to Kurri Kurri?

Yes. Kurri Kurri is served south along the Pacific Highway, and freight is quoted to your postcode as its own line on the quote rather than folded into the cabinetry price.

Do you install kitchens in Kurri Kurri?

No. Our own installation team works Central Queensland only. In Kurri Kurri your builder, carpenter or kitchen installer fits it, working from the dimensioned service drawings that ship with every order. Our install guide covers the three trades and the order they work in.

Should I order flat pack or assembled to Kurri Kurri?

Both are quoted on the same drawing. Flat cartons ship for less and get through tight doorways; assembled arrives with carcasses built and doors adjusted so your installer is fitting rather than building. Over this distance most the Hunter Valley orders go flat.

Who can do the plumbing and electrical in Kurri Kurri?

A licensed plumber and a licensed electrician, and you should check both licences yourself before they start. In New South Wales, NSW Fair Trading is the register to check against.

What board and hardware do you use?

18mm moisture-resistant board, laser-bonded edging and Blum soft-close hinges and runners on every cabinet, in every state. The specification is printed on your quote so you can hold it against anything else you are offered.

Can I see a sample before ordering in Kurri Kurri?

Yes. Door, board and edging samples are posted out, and for most people that settles the colour question better than a screen does. Ask when you send the dimensions through.

Delivered assembled

The assembly is done
before it arrives.

Carcasses built square on a bench, Blum hardware fitted, doors hung and adjusted to even gaps. On site you are fixing finished cabinets to a wall, not building them on the floor. Your builder or installer levels it, fixes it and fits the benchtop, working from our drawings. Prefer to build it yourself? The same kitchen ships flat pack.
