What is a kitchen up against in Harvey?
Out here a missing bracket is not an inconvenience, it is a fortnight. Everything is packed against a numbered drawing and checked before it leaves, because the cost of getting it wrong is measured in distance rather than dollars. Wine country and surf coast, with a short intense holiday season and a long quiet one.
How is a Harvey order freighted?
Your kitchen is cut in Rockhampton and freighted west across the Nullarbor. Flat cartons are labelled to a numbered drawing, one per cabinet where possible, with doors and fronts wrapped separately and the Blum hardware bagged against the cabinet it belongs to. Assembled orders arrive as finished boxes, doors hung and adjusted, which takes more truck space and shows as a higher freight line. Both are on the same quote so the choice is a number rather than a guess.
Who fits it in Harvey?
Your builder, carpenter or kitchen installer, plus a licensed plumber and a licensed electrician for their parts. Ask each for a licence number and check it yourself — in Western Australia that is the WA Building and Energy division. Every order ships with dimensioned service drawings showing each waste, water point and outlet, so the trades rough in to the plan rather than to a guess. Where should the cartons sit before the trades arrive?
Somewhere dry, flat and off a concrete slab. Packed panels are fine stored flat and stacked, and they are not fine leaning against a wall for a fortnight or sitting where a slab can wick moisture into them. A garage on timber bearers or a couple of pallets is ideal. Open the cartons and check them against the drawing when they arrive, then close them again.
Would a kitchenette suit the room better?
If the room in Harvey is a studio, a granny flat, an under-house conversion or a short-stay unit, a kitchenette may be the right answer and it starts at $4,500. Sink, bench, cold storage, and a cooktop where the run allows. Same carcasses and the same Blum hardware as a full kitchen, in a fraction of the length - and it fits through a doorway that a full run would not.
Can I change the drawing after I approve it?
Before it is cut, yes, and changes at that stage cost nothing but time. Once the panels are cut they are cut to your sizes and cannot be re-used on another job, which is why the approval step exists and why we would rather you took an extra week over it. Read the elevations as carefully as the plan: most late changes are about where a door swings or which side of the sink the dishwasher sits, and both are obvious on the elevation.

Carcasses built square on a bench, Blum hardware fitted, doors hung and adjusted to even gaps. On site you are fixing finished cabinets to a wall, not building them on the floor.
