Coastal short-stay kitchens fail in two predictable ways: salt and humidity get into the carcass edges, and guests treat the hardware as if it were their own. The listing photograph does the selling
Guests scroll. On this coast they are comparing your place against a dozen others with the same view, so the kitchen photograph is doing real work. That means uncluttered rather than expensive: full-height storage to hide the mess, an unbroken run of bench, and a splashback that does not fight the camera. We design knowing the first person to see it will see it at 400 pixels wide.
Salt, humidity and people who do not live there
Three forces, all working on the same cabinetry. Coastal air gets into unsealed edges; guests shut soft-close drawers like ordinary ones; and turnover means it is cleaned harder and more often than a family kitchen. Moisture-resistant carcasses, laser-bonded edging and proper runners handle all three. This is not the room to save on hardware.
Check the letting rules before the kitchen
Short-stay letting on the Capricorn Coast is a planning matter for Livingstone Shire Council, and body corporate by-laws can override the answer where they apply. Confirm you are permitted to let the property before you spend on it — we can tell you what a kitchen costs, not whether you are allowed to run the business.
