How we price,
and what we exclude.

A cost guide is only worth reading if you can see how the figures were arrived at. This is ours.

The short answer

We publish our own rate card rather than an industry average. Cabinetry is priced per linear metre of run by collection, with benchtops and additions as separate lines. The published ranges are real ranges, not from-prices. Freight, licensed trades, installation outside Central Queensland, appliances and demolition are excluded and are never folded in.

The unit

Cabinetry is priced per linear metre of run. Renovation guides commonly price per square metre of floor area, which includes space you are not buying cabinets for and makes small rooms look expensive and large ones look cheap. A run is what gets made, so a run is what gets priced.

Why a range and not one number

Two kitchens of the same length can differ by a third depending on the cabinet mix. A run of drawer banks costs more than a run of doors. A corner needs a cabinet that holds less and costs more. Appliance cabinets are cut to specific models. The published range covers that spread honestly; a single figure would not.

What is excluded, and why we do not estimate it

Freight varies by postcode and by whether the order is flat packed or assembled, so it is quoted per job rather than averaged. Plumbing and electrical work is done by licensed local trades at local rates we have no part in. Installation outside Central Queensland is arranged by you. Appliances we will cut for but generally do not supply. Demolition and disposal is a local cost. We could publish national averages for all of it; they would be guesses dressed as data.

How a quote is built from the rates

Your measurements produce a drawing. Every cabinet on that drawing is priced individually at the rate for its collection and width, the benchtop by material and linear metre, the hardware by brand, the additions as their own lines, and freight to your postcode as its own line. The total is the sum of those, not a rate multiplied by a length. The published per-metre figures are what that process averages out to, which is why they are a range.

Standard on every collection
  • 18mm moisture-resistant board
  • Laser-bonded edging, no glue line
  • Blum soft-close hinges and runners
  • Cut to your drawing, not catalogue widths
  • Fixed quote, itemised, freight separate
  • No from-prices or provisional sums

The specification does not change between collections. What changes is the door range, the benchtop and the detailing — not the parts that decide how long a kitchen lasts.

Frequently asked

Questions about the method

If your question is not here, call the studio. We would rather talk it through than have you guess.

Ask us directly →
Are these prices or estimates?

They are our rates. A quote drawn to your measurements will land within the published range for your collection, and the quote is fixed once you sign the drawing off.

How often are the rates reviewed?

They were last reviewed October 2026. Material and freight costs move, so the rates are reviewed rather than fixed forever, and this page carries the date of the last review.

Why publish them at all?

Because the alternative is a from-price with the catches left out, and because a buyer who can see the numbers can compare properly. It also means we have to stand behind them.

Do you price-match?

No. Compare the specification line for line instead: board thickness and moisture rating, edging method, hardware brand. If someone matches those three and is cheaper, take their quote.

Delivered assembled

The assembly is done
before it arrives.

Carcasses built square on a bench, Blum hardware fitted, doors hung and adjusted to even gaps. On site you are fixing finished cabinets to a wall, not building them on the floor. Our own team fits it in Central Queensland; your installer fits it anywhere else in Australia. Prefer to build it yourself? The same kitchen ships flat pack.
